During the
activities children said that:
LIS is one of the ways to communicate not with word and hearing,
but with gestures of hands, face, body ...
Sight takes the place of hearing, and for this reason the sign language
is not spoken and written, but a visual language.
This language so is different from the others: it has its grammar,
its alphabet, every word has got its particular sign.
Moreover the
sign language is not the same in every part of the world, for
example:
- English deaf people sign the British Sign Language (BSL)
- American deaf people sign the American Sign Language (ASL)
- Italian deaf people sign the Italian Sign Language (LIS)
Very interesting
is to know that (also in Italy) there are dialectical forms of
LIS: some signs are different from region to region ! So for example:
YELLOW ... at Milan
and at Turin
THANKS! ... at Milan
and at Rome
